Is this cheating in BG3 Honor Mode or fair game?
I’m doing a Baldur’s Gate 3 Honor Mode run with three friends. We’ve made it all the way into Act 3 without glitches, cheese, or exploits — just raw pain and strategy.
Here’s the problem: one of my buddies got the Diva curse, killed the Divas, and then managed to grab the Diva’s Mace off their bodies by using the search bar trick (so the items can still be selected even when they shouldn’t be). The mace does double the damage of the Baldurian Giantslayer, but it only sells for 5 gold.
I think that’s 100% cheating and ruins the spirit of Honor Mode. For me, the achievement isn’t just about the badge — it’s about the journey, the challenge, and doing it legit. If we start bending rules with exploits, it invalidates the whole run.
My buddy insists “it’s in the game, so it’s fair” and doesn’t see it as cheating at all.
So Reddit: who’s right here? Is using the Diva’s Mace with this exploit fair game, or does it totally ruin an Honor Mode run? Am I just being salty, or do I have a point?
Question from user lowmana_ at BaldursGate3 at reddit.com.
Answer:
There are a lot of ways to get the deva mace. Im playing on console and I essentially got two of them without even trying just by looting the temple and killing the devas and long resting, no tricks required. So while its not intended by the devs and while theyve tried to remove the exploit, its still pretty easy which makes me think its not the end of the world. .
