Pretty sure I'm screwed (Myrkul fight: First Honour mode)
Hi all, figured it wouldn't hurt to share my current experience and see if there's some way to salvage my run, though I don't see how it's possible. Worst case, I've learned for my next run. .
*Note.
Please refrain from "you should have done X" or "why didn't you do Y?" as it's not helpful at this moment. I'm definitely open to helpful tips for future runs, but right now I'm trying to see if there's some solution to save this file. .
For example: I've played comfortably on Tactician but have never played the game through Act 2. I wanted to play Honour Mode for higher stakes and am enjoying it. So, yes, it probably would have been good to know what I was getting into, but I also like the idea of going into encounters blind with RP in mind, and doing my best with my choices. .
Party setup.
Tav: Level 6 Oath of Vengeance Paladin/Level 3 Sorcerer **CURRENTLY DECEASED IN FIGHT*\*.
Karlach: Level 7 Open Hand Monk/Level 2 Rogue **CURRENTLY DECEASED IN FIGHT*\*.
Astarion: Level 6 Swords Bard/Level 3 Gloomstalker Ranger .
Stats: 8/17/14/8//10/16.
Feat(s): Sharpshooter.
Gear: Hellfire Hand crossbow, Yuan-Ti Scale Mail, Gloves of the Automaton .
Shadowheart: Level 8 Life Domain Cleric/Level 1 Oath of Ancients Paladin .
Stats: 8/12/14/8/16/16.
Feat(s): Alert, Warcaster .
Gear: Hellrider's Pride, Wapira's Crown, Whispering Promise .
What Happened?
I tried to sneak in, but click too far into the room and was too slow to enter turn-based mode before a cutscene triggered (old gamer reflexes, idk) .
This led to one round where the Mindflayer got a turn and we engaged with Myrkul. .
I didn't know you had to free Nightsong to do damage, so that also took another round. .
Despite this, I emptied my best scrolls (conjure elementals) + used Sanctuary and some positioning to keep us up and take out the Mindflayer. .
By this time, Tav & Karlach were in melee (I didn't even notice the bone chilled when in proximity status until 2 rounds in, woof). .
They were both downed. I tried to pick up, then tried Revivify after they died not knowing none of these would work. I got Shart out of there after trying. .
Nightsong died. .
Myrkul has absorbed all of the undead at this point and sits at full 390/390 health (lol) .
Shart & Astarion are backed up all the way to the door because I figured I'd see if fleeing was an option. Understandably it is not. .
I have some items left, but it seems like I should just let the run go because I have no way of outpacing his damage or reviving my 2 other party members. .
Am I screwed?
If the answer is "Yes, you're screwed" I wouldn't be surprised--but couldn't hurt to ask the community of experts haha.
