Why is Lae'zel dead ?

I just started playing (bought the game Jan 1) and almost at the end of Act 1. .


After the crash, I found Shadowheart, Astarion, and Gale straightaway but could never find Lae'zel. .


When I was at Risen Road I triggered the cutscene where the dragon destroys the bridge, it happened so fast I wasn't sure what happened. I decided not to engage since I was pretty low level at that moment. .


Well, after completing almost everything else in Act 1 I decided to check out the mountain pass. I find the three or four githyanki loitering around Lae'zel's body and one of my companions commented of her being killed by her own people? Why??? ? .


I resurrected her and she is chilling in my camp now safe and happy acting like nothing happened (well as happy as she can be with Shadowheart lol) but I am so confused why she was killed? I also feel bad that I missed her at the crash site ? Sorry girl.

She gets killed off camera by the other gith there for probably speaking out of line, it only happens if you long rest without speaking to them.
