I've been playing the story mode, and it seems that my Gear Slot is filled, as a result of which I am unable to open any chests or acquire anything. Can you please advise me what to do? It's really annoying, lol.

Sell it. Theres no point in hanging on to it and youll have probably need the money anyway, so just equip the best you have and sell the rest.
