This man is the only thing standing between me, and platinuming BG3. How do I ensure that he survives.

Answer:

Convince him to stay in the grove. Next, talk to him in Last Light Inn first thing when you get to act two. Hell then wander off to save his family, but will need you to save him instead, where he can be found on the south side of that area across from the Reithwin Tollhouse. Omce youve saved him, iirc go back to Last Light and talk to him, but this part I dont think is necessary. Of course if Isobel or Last Light Inn fall, he will die as well. Finally, in act 3 he will be apprenticed to Lorroakan. Kill Lorroakan and free him and he will be fully saved, so long as you choose the good ending.


Edit: No One Left Behind is the also the only achievement that I dont have. Im working on this as we speak, so I feel your pain. I didnt even notice or talk to Rolan on my first three runs.
