Which visual novels are represented by the animated avatars in the 2023 Steam Visual Novel Fest?
Posted On: April 16, 2024

Steam is currently running the 2023 Steam Visual Novel Fest, giving out animated avatars of what I assume to be characters from various visual novel games. Which visual novels are these characters from?

These are the animated avatar GIFs:.

Name.

Animated Avatar.

Bumpo.

Flapjack.

Tina.

Violet.

Mirandi.

William.

Erickson.

The names and GIFs are from SteamDB.

Question from user galacticninja at gaming.stackexchange.com.

Answer:

Those 2023 Steam Visual Novel Fest avatars aren’t actually pulled from any existing games. They’re original creations, made to look like characters one would see in a visual novel.

As pinckerman pointed out, artists Justin Erickson and Mike Mirandi are behind these avatars (source). Two of the avatars are named after them, suggesting that these avatars are not associated with any existing games.

Also, a quick search doesn’t turn up any visual novels or games featuring characters named Bumpo or Flapjack, further evidence that these characters were made for the fest.
