Is Minecraft Turing-Complete?
Posted On: August 8, 2020
Minecraft has the redstone wires mechanism that can be used to build circuits. Is Minecraft Turing-Complete, i.e. can it be used to simulate a Turing Machine (if we ignore the problem of infinite memory)?Question from user Oak at gaming.stackexchange.com.Answer:I know this question is a bit old, but all the other answers seem quite complex to me, while the answer itself can be quite simple: nor gates are universal, redstone torches are nor gates, and all graphs can be embedded in 3-space; so yes, Minecraft is Turing complete!.Answer from user D . . . How can I tell if a corpse is safe to eat?
Posted On: July 9, 2020
I am a human wizard, and I just killed a monster, leaving a corpse on the ground. How do I tell whether it is safe to eat the corpse?
I left the monster unspecified because I am interested in "how can I figure out whether this is edible," rather than whether any particular monster is edible. Likewise, I would prefer to avoid having to look up or memorize a list of every single monster (but rules for particular symbols are great).
Question from user Larry Wang at gaming.stackexchange.com.

Why is 3333360 the maximum score in Pac-Man?
Posted On: December 19, 2019
According to the Wikipedia page for Pac-Man, the highest possible score is 3333360 points. It's called a perfect game and it was achieved by 3 different people already.
What I want to know is: WHY is it exactly 3333360 points? It must be a technical limitation, but this number makes no sense in my opinion.
I know the game has 255 levels. 255 is 11111111 in binary and level 256 (that seems to exist mystically) brings the 8-bit digit to an overflow, which ends in a crash of the game.
But, 3333360 just seems so random.

Does it make a difference to CP if you feed candies before or after evolving?
Posted On: November 10, 2019
When activating the evolution for a caught Pokemon, it seems to amplify the Combat Power (CP). Thus it seems most beneficial to evolve your Pokemon with the highest CP, if you have multiple of the same kind. .But what I am not sure about is whether it makes an efficiency difference if you spend candies and dust to boost CP before evolving, to gain more from the amplification? Or is it more efficient to just evolve without spending, and then using the leftover candies afterwards, since they now give a bigger CP boost per candy? .I only tested wi . . . [

Is it possible to hit a mine on first click?
Posted On: September 14, 2019
Is it possible for some unlucky guy to hit a mine when they click the first square randomly?Question from user nalzok at gaming.stackexchange.com.Answer:It is impossible to click a mine on the first click, at least in Windows 98. If a mine is under the first clicked tile, it is moved to the upper-left corner, if the upper left corner is occupied, the mine moves to the right of the corner tile. It does not appear the behavior has changed since then.Source.Answer from user Galen Nare at gaming.stackexchange.com. . . . [

Is it possible to jump over the flag-pole in Super Mario Bros?
Posted On: August 16, 2019
When I was younger, I remember there was a persistent rumour that claimed that under certain circumstances it was possible to jump completely over the flagpole at the end of each level. .
Every time I jump for the flagpole and my 5000 points, I still remember this and wonder about it. On a few occasions, it seems as though I'm about to make it! Mario is on course to leap to freedom! However I always find myself "pulled" back to the top of the flagpole.
Is there any way to completely clear the flagpole at the end of a level?

Uhh, I got drunk and trashed a temple. How do I pick up the mess?
Posted On: December 20, 2018
After getting shouted at rather intensely by four old guys on the top of a "7000 steps" tall mountain, I decided it was time to go home to Whiterun and have a couple cups of mead. .
Fortunately I found the right drinking buddy at the inn by the marketplace. He greeted me by offering me a drinking challenge. Who am I to say no? Well. as you can already guess, no good story starts with "that night when I decided not to drink.".
A couple of drinks later I woke up on the other side of Skyrim in a temple inside Markar . . . [

Is No Mans Sky actually multiplayer?
Posted On: August 7, 2018
I've heard claims that the game is multiplayer, but the universe is so huge you will almost certainly never encounter another player. That seems unlikely. It's a lot of work to make a game multiplayer, so I doubt they would go through all that effort for a feature they didn't expect anyone to ever actually use.So, what happens when two players are on the same planet? Can they see/interact/communicate with each other?Question from user BlueRaja - Danny Pflughoeft at gaming.stackexchange.com.Answer:Update:.As of the 1.5 NEXT update, there is 4 . . . [

Is a horse actually faster than running?
Posted On: May 30, 2018
I'm pretty disappointed with my horse. He wasn't cheap -- 1000g -- but he just doesn't seem that fast. To make things worse, he's a bit of a wolf magnet and every time I get attacked I have to tediously dismount, blast the wolf, and then remount.
Is the speed of a horse actually significantly faster than normal running speed? If so, how much faster?
Question from user David Fullerton at gaming.stackexchange.com.

Not only is the horse faster (not even considering their higher base stamina -- Horses can sprint . . . [

Besides practicing, what are some great ways to become a better StarCraft II player?
Off the top of my head I can think of:.

Watching live gamecasts on Team Liquid's user streams page.
Following the Team Liquid Starcraft 2 Strategy forum.
