How can I keep monsters out of my nether regions?
Posted On: January 24, 2017
In order to find myself some nice lapis lazuli and get away from my current base, I'm building a little tunnel in the Nether to allow me to get into the midst of some fresh chunks fairly quickly.I have a nice little stone house, but as Ghasts and zombie pigmen can spawn at any light level in the Nether, how do I keep them from popping up in my Nether regions where I don't want them? Will they even spawn on foreign blocks (e.g. those that aren't Netherrack, slow sand, etc.).Question from user Nick T at gaming.stackexchange.com.Answer:As of . . . [

Where is the impossible space in Portal 2?
Posted On: June 9, 2016
One of the commentary nodes by a Portal 2 developer, Eric Tams, said they used "world portals" to quickly reconfigure maps and puzzles during testing, which allowed them to create rooms that were bigger on the inside, infinite falls, and other sorts of impossible geometry, save for the users own ASHPD space bending.
When we started the project, making any big structural change in a level or the order of levels would lead to hours or even days of busy work trying to reconnect things and make sure they lined up again. If we ever want . . . [

What is the terminal velocity of a sheep?
Posted On: August 25, 2015
I am thinking of an alternative timing mechanism; I am building a trap and I wanted to try something different to set it off.
I want to drop a sheep from n blocks high so that I have a delay before the trap is triggered. The timing needs to be very exact, but I don't know how the falling mechanism works: whether there is acceleration, and how fast it is hit. (I understand this would be different for a chicken.).
Can someone give me some figures of the length of time it takes to reach the terminal velocity, and how many blocks per seco . . . [

What can I do with Dragon Bones and Scales?
Posted On: August 25, 2015
I've started slaying dragons (like all good Dohvakiin must), and with each beastie I down, I'm getting close to 200 lbs of loot, mostly in the form of Dragon Bones and Scales. These two items are high weight, and high value, but I can't seem to find any actual use for them, especially since most of the shopkeepers I talk to aren't interested in purchasing them. Are these just supposed to be for decorating one's house? Or is there some nefarious purpose for them down the road that I should stockpile them for?Question from user Raven Dreamer at ga . . . [

How do I disable Civ 5s opening movie?
Posted On: August 23, 2015
It seems like the opening movie always starts up and won't let me cancel it until it has played for about 10 seconds. Is that because it takes the game that long to load regardless? Is there a way to turn off the movie?Question from user bwarner at gaming.stackexchange.com.Answer:Since version 1.0.1.674:.Go to the game options and check the Skip Intro Video option:.Earlier versions:.Navigate to My Documents/My Games/Sid Meier's Civilization V/ on a PC or ~/Documents/Aspyr/Sid Meier's Civilization 5 on a Mac.Look for the file Usersettings.ini . . . Is it dangerous to go extreme pig riding in a thunderstorm?
Posted On: January 6, 2015
I like to saddle up my piggy for a ride into thunderstorms. But what happens to my piggy if we get hit by lightning?
Question from user Sadly Not at gaming.stackexchange.com.
Answer:
If a pig, saddled and ridden or not, gets hit by lightning it will turn into an un-aggro'ed (non-hostile) Zombie Pigman with you staring at the inside of it's head.
Lightning forced to strike with a mod.

How do I lick a plane?
Posted On: November 21, 2014
A friend of mine told me that I would get an Achievement if I managed to lick the plane that's flying around in the world but, he won't tell me how to get close to it.I tried many different things. Jumping on trampolines won't get me high enough, and the only thing that looks high enough is the crane, but I somehow can't jump that far when the plane (or. glider? I don't actually know what it really is.) shows up there. How can I lick that thing, and what is the achievement I can get from it?Question from user Jutschge at gaming.stackexchange.com . . . [
