Is there anything I can do about thieves in A Dark Room?

Some thieves seem to have moved into my village, and are stealing much of what I can gather each turn. I'm currently assuming that eventually I'll encounter an event that will allow me to deal with them, but it's frustrating. My question is this:. Is there some specific thing I need to actively do to get rid of them now, or will waiting eventually lead to some option for a resolution? Whats wrong with my Pokemon Go curveball?

So I've got pretty good at landing curveballs. Well, according to How to throw a curveball that's what I think I'm doing. But I never seem to get the 10xp bonus for curveball, whether I hit inside the target or not (in my example I happen to get a great throw). In Episode 2 Mission 6: The Erebus Reactor of Dusk there's collection of tall towers with metal girders connecting them all through the stage. Are the Highlighted destructible items in Diablo 3 significant in any way?

I've noticed that I come across destructibles (doors, barrels, other props) that have a kind of highlight, a double helix type of spiral with some effect. Do these items have any significance? Here's an animated GIF that shows such an object. Pay attention to the left hand side where a large multi-story wooden scaffolding has such a highlight. I was messing around with some of the "Challenge" missions and discovered a Protoss a mechanic that I don't quite understand (Protoss is my least played race by far, so sorry if this is a basic question). When I attempt to blink stalkers using the shift-queuing method, I usually end up leaving some stalkers behind.
