In Factorio, is there a way to place blueprinted poles at maximum distances?
Posted On: April 30, 2023
The current issue I have is with placing Blueprinted Electric Poles over long distances as shown in this GIF:.
Normally, you are able to hold down LMB, and move. Then once you reach the maximum distance, you'll automatically place another pole. (Provided that there are no other poles nearby too).
However, as seen in the GIF, it doesn't happen for the poles that are blueprinted.
Is there a way to place blueprinted poles at maximum distances?
Note: I do want the roboport to be placed too. I don't want to go through the tro . . . [

how to make dwarves happier in Dwarf Fortress?
Posted On: April 28, 2023
Most of my dwarves are not happy, and I don't know how to make them happier in general.
So, how can I properly make at least the angrier of them less unhappy/more happy?
I really want to prevent them from starting a killing spree due to going Berserk. This is the number two cause of deaths on my Fortress.
Version: 0.50 (Steam).
What has been tried so far:.
"Therapy Squad" suggested by the wiki: didn't work in reducing the number of really angry dwarves. The number was reduced, but only due to some of them dying/ . . . [

Dwarf Fortress Tree-cutting quota: where to check?
Posted On: April 27, 2023
My barony has been scolded by a Elf Diplomat:.
You have disrespected the trees in this area, but this is what we have come to expect from your stunted kind. Further abuse cannot be tolerated. Let this be a warning to you.
Now it seems that Woodcutters are not cutting any wood anymore, and I really need to make more beds for my 150 people population. Most of them still have to lay on dirty ground!.
So: where can I check my quota to see if I have no remaining trees left for cutting this year?
Version: 0.50 (Steam).

Using bikes over karts in time trials in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
Posted On: April 27, 2023
I realized I never beaten staff times on MK8 and I'd like to give them a try. So, I watched several MK8 time trials on Youtube, and I noticed that bikes are often used.
Is there a real advantage using a bike? I know that some bikes can exploit what it's called inside-drifting, but is it a must in order to compete with the best times out there?
Or are bikes used for other reasons?

Damp wall ignored in Dwarf Fortress why?
Posted On: April 26, 2023
I took as granted that Miners always detected damp walls and stopped mining in these cases.
But a miner did not detect, or just decided to ignore, an obvious damp wall, and created a leak that led to a massive flooding of the Fortress.
How is this possible? As most strange behaviors on Dwarf Fortress are not bugs, but purposely programmed by the developers, I would like to understand the factors that leads me to not trusting my Miners common sense anymore.

How do I know which version of Minecraft I have?
Posted On: April 26, 2023
I don't know which version of Minecraft I have. I have regular Minecraft, not Java or anything else and I just don't know the version I have.
Question from user Azalea at gaming.stackexchange.com.
Answer:
Simply look at the bottom of Minecraft's title screen.
At the bottom right or bottom left, you should see a number. (1.14.4, 1.13, etc.).
If the number is in the bottom left, you are using Java Edition, also evident in the subtitle below the main title.
If the number is in the bottom right, you are using Bedrock E . . . [

What is the optimum pattern to place crops in Minecraft?
Posted On: April 25, 2023
What factors affect soil hydration and crop growth time? What is the most efficient layout of dirt and water to grow crops?
Question from user Joe Dovahkiin at gaming.stackexchange.com.
Answer:
Like Brant said, tilled soil will stay tilled if it has a water tile four blocks or less away. Even though a large field of crops would result in the quickest growth time, this is not necessarily the most efficient method of farming as you would need to crouch to avoid the trampling of crops, and it's not easy to access each tile.

Too easy on normal in Hogwarts Legacy?
Posted On: April 25, 2023
Hey all just wondering if there any others here who find this game really easy on normal mode?
Also be curious to know if the same folks who find this quite easy play games like Dark Souls etc. I very rarely get injured in Hogwarts Legacy, I'm like a reflexes ninja with my character. Got my spells mapped out and memorised. It's great fun fighting dark wizards /"poachers" but it's easy after putting in hundreds of hours (possibly 1000s by now tbh lol) into the Soulsborne games.
Gonna do a hard mode with no unforgivabl . . . [

Agitated Giant Thrips: how to properly deal with them in Dwarf Fortress?
Posted On: April 25, 2023
The number one cause of death on my Fortress is: attack by flying insects.
As they don't activate the Cage Traps, because they don't touch the ground, which are the possible ways to deal with this frequent menace?
Version: 0.50 (Steam).
What has been tried so far:.
Order squads to kill the insects: they kill the insects easily because they are armored, armed, and well-trained. But they can only reach the insects after some of my civil dwaves were already killed by just one insect, so some live loss is inevitable this way, an . . . [
