The combat has ruined this game for me
I think I've given Baldur's Gate 3 a fair shake. I've played through most of Act 1 and I think the characters and writing are great. The combat on the other hand, is absolutely horrendous. Every action you ever take being influenced by a dice roll is frustrating beyond belief.
Luck determines if your attack will land, how much damage it will deal, if a secondary effect will be applied, if a critical hit happens, if a buff wears off, if a debuff wears off, if a debuff applies in the first place, if you lose concentration on a spell, if you slip on a surface, whether or not a character dies, I can't stand it.
One of the worst parts about it to me is that the game isn't even difficult, I've only wiped a single time and it was just because it was in the super early game and I didn't know how to play yet. The combat feels annoying and tedious for the sake of being annoying and tedious. I'm sure there are a lot of people who like this kind of combat, clearly so given how beloved the game is, but I think it is genuinely awful to the point of making me drop the game entirely.
