underdark or crèche?

hi everyone! i’ve just recently started to play this game for the first time and i’ve approached the point where my main quests are to travel to moonrise towers as well as go to the crèche that kith’rak voss gave my party the directions to. however, when i head in the direction of the crèche, i get the pop-up to tie up any loose ends before advancing through the mountain pass. does proceeding lock me out of progressing to moonrise towers via the underdark? or can i still go this way and then go back to the underdark if i choose to?thank . . . Should I restart because of... Astarion

So I'm currently in Act 3 and I literally just found out I skipped a huge, very important scene regarding Astarion's romance in Act 2. For context I'm totally new to this genre on games and I suck hard, so I'm pretty sure I skipped the scene where he confesses he tried to manipulate Tav first but ended up falling for him. How did I skip this? My dumbass didn't take enough rests at Moonrise probably. Is BG3 worth playing if I wouldn't like the combat?

I prefer games to have as little luck involved in possible, I want everything to be within the player's control. Mechanics like hit chance and random critical hits are annoying to me. Are the other aspects of the game, like the writing and roleplaying, good enough to make it worth playing despite the fact that I will not enjoy the combat? I was going to play BG3 after I finished another game that’s taking up most of the storage on my SSD but I reached a slow point in that game so I was thinking of trying BG1 and BG2 first.So I saw that apparently there were Baldur’s Gate books and it had a canon character called Abdel Adrian who apparently makes a bunch of the dumb choices. If I played BG1 and BG2 I’d want to do the canon playthrough, but I’m wondering if the games and books have separate canons.
